Scenario
ElektraTech Innovations, a prominent European tech multinational faces turmoil as employees are stranded in flood-affected areas of India with critical medical emergencies.

Severe floods in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh, along with blackouts and unrest in central states, have impacted ElektraTech's facilities.

Participants acted as ElektraTech’s Crisis Management Team, receiving ground reports and managing the crisis.
Exercise
Exercise participants acted as Crisis Management professionals in the European office, receiving the same content without specific roles. This enabled participants to access needed information and adapt to varying group sizes.

The 40-minute exercise had two main phases and two “special situation” phases. The main phases helped participants immerse in the scenario and prepare information for decision-making and advising in-country staff during special situations.
Environment
The participants were attendees of the ASIS Vienna exhibition that took place on 21st March. The registration was done on-the-spot, participants could access the scenario by scanning the QR code. We encouraged them to use their laptops for a more engaging experience, although they could play through the exercise on their mobile devices too.
A view of a simulated environment running a crisis exercise on the Conducttr simulation platform. The interface displays a user identified as “Player 39” viewing the “InfoMap” channel, which shows a street map of New Delhi. A news-style feed on the right reports power outages, blackout warnings, and infrastructure disruptions due to flash flooding. On the left sidebar, various app icons are visible, including Chirps, Email, Secure Messenger, Crisis Drive, and StockWatch, many showing notification badges. A brief explains that the scenario helps train crisis management skills in response to natural disasters.
Challenges and Solutions
International SOS were looking to create a short scenario to quickly immerse the training audience in the environment of the exercise, and allow them to put their expertise to the test. Our simulation concentrates on the immediate aftermath of the floods, highlighting the difficulties of delivering essential medical care and security support to individuals in locations cut off by the floods.

The objective of this exercise is to demonstrate extensive crisis management abilities , focusing on rapid and coordinated response strategies (Situation Control) to ensure the safety and well-being of those impacted in such intense and challenging situations.
Screenshot of the Conducttr platform displaying a simulated player post for an AI-supported After Action Review (AAR). The post from “Player 39” reads: “Uttarakhand is under water again!! I wonder where all the money goes?” with the hashtag #IndiaFloods. A panel titled “Create an observation with AI” shows a persuasion analysis with a score of 4. The reasoning notes that the message questions financial accountability but lacks supporting facts or emotional appeal. Narrative archetype is “Overcoming the Monster,” emotion is concern, and suggested facts include historical flood data. A sidebar on the left shows platform icons like Chirps, Secure Messenger, and InfoMap.
Use of AI
Artificial Intelligence streamlined scenario creation, saving time in design, delivery, and debriefing. After consulting with International SOS experts, we used our LISA chatbot to build a natural disaster scenario in India. We refined it with incidents, empathy, and Hindi language injects. Imported into Conducttr, we enhanced it with AI-generated images, created a Pattern of Life (a stack of content to be published on-demand) with AI stack generation, and used AI for real-time player activity analysis. This allowed experts to send customized injects based on player actions and get an instant score for each player action based on all of which was included in the after-action review report.
A workflow diagram depicting the workshop dynamics of a crisis simulation exercise. The process begins with Conducttr Experts (Step 1) sending digital injects to multiple participant groups (Step 2). Participants analyze the scenario and generate findings (Step 3), which are sent to the SITREP (Situation Report) session led by IQARUS and International SOS experts (Step 4). In the final step (Step 5), analysis and feedback are delivered to the participants based on the After Action Review (AAR) and subject matter expert recommendations. Arrows indicate the directional flow of information between participants and facilitators. Street scene showing light to moderate urban flooding. Multiple cars and two motorcyclists navigate cautiously through waterlogged lanes. Ripples and surface reflections indicate ongoing rainfall or recent heavy rain. The road edges are barely visible, and water has pooled unevenly across the street, causing visible splashes from the moving vehicles.
Workshop Dynamics
In a crisis, information flow is fast-paced. To help everyone understand the evolving situation, International SOS created a set of flowcharts and diagrams. Information was sent as injects to participants, who analyzed and collaborated using Conducttr's messaging channels that simulate true-to-life tools and platforms. Findings were sent back to role-players. International SOS led the SITREP session, engaging experts from various fields that suited to advise players. This was followed by group feedback, based on an after-action review report from Conducttr, and recommendations from subject matter experts.
